Our History

BACK IN THE DAY! 1990! Litchfield, Illinois

And no not 1907 like the picture above! Probably around 1990, a sophomore kid named Woodrow (Woody) Stewart, wanted to play music like all of the Seniors did at his Highschool. He went to the communications tech teacher, Mr. Bruce Logsdon and begged him to DJ. He was repeatedly told NO, only Seniors were allowed. So, he did the next best thing and went to the teen center called The Escape.

The Gentleman that ran the center needed a DJ and gave him a chance. About three weeks later the man came up and gave young Woodrow an opportunity he couldn't let slip by...He asked the young DJ to perform at his daughter's wedding and would pay him $50 dollars (Hey that was a lot of Money at 15!) After BORROWING equipment from his mom's stereo and some lights from the local Highschool...with permission, he had his first gig, and DANCETIME DJ SERVICE was born. Word quickly spread around and business picked up so good that in a few months he was able to buy his own equipment and pay his father back....and was asked to DJ at the Highschool dances by his beloved Teacher and Mentor Mr. Logsdon.

Then One Day!

Young Woody grew up and decided to join the Army, and put the Dancetime Dj name to sleep. He travelled the world and fought wars to protect the Freedom and people around the world. Occasionally appearing in clubs to guest appearance for a set or two. After 25 years the older Woodrow hung up his boots from US ARMY CENTRAL COMMAND, and settled in the best city in the world ... Dallas, Texas!

During the day he's the Director of Security at Frisco Station, and bodyguard's some pretty famous people, BUT inside he still yearned to play music and entertain people. Of course, we are a Veteran owned business.

SO THEN!

The beautiful woman on the left and Professional Makeup artist for DanceTime Entertainment Ms. Elizabeth took her husband to a birthday party where the DJ let him look at all the cool buttons on his mixing board. Woody was inspired once more, and went out and bought a new mixing board. After doing some mixing for friends via Facebook, he was quickly talked into coming out of DJ Retirement. So here we are today, with over 30 years of music, knowledge of all genres and a greater passion to give you the best performance and make your event the talk of the town and never forgotten!

Thank you very much for taking the time to read the History of DanceTime (DJ) Entertainment.
